Khojaly GenocideOver the night from February 25 to 26, 1992 Armenian armed forces implemented the capture of the Khojaly city with support of hard equipment and the personnel of the infantry guards regiment N 366 of former Soviet Union. The massed firing with using artillery weapon, hard military equipment, which was began in the evening of February 25, preceded assault of the city.
Occupation of Khojaly was followed with unprecedented brutalities against the civilian population. 613 innocent and unarmed people were killed. Among them were 83 children, 106 women, 70 elders. 56 persons were burned with special cruelty, tortured, beheaded and blinded, pregnant women bayoneted. 8 families were totally exterminated. 25 children were totally and 130 children were partly orphaned. More than 1000 people became disabled persons, 78 of them were minors. 1275 people were taken into hostage and the fate of 150 people is still unknown. Only small number of Khojaly residents survived this tragedy.
Khojaly tragedy marked another step by Armenian armed forces aimed at further occupation of Azerbaijani lands which still continues.
